I know what the expression means. Married or not, David wouldn't share anyway. And as I explained, I can of course explain other people's motivations (eg some axe murderer's logic LOL) without having the same way of thinking, but of course we're not in his head and can't tell if it's his opinion or if he's just reproducing common male opinion, Miss mind reader LOL

I'm not a mind reader but why would he say it if he didn't think the same way? and why do you keep talking about sharing??

Forget it LOL I know that if you don't want to understand you don't understand. I've explained it already a few times, that should do.

um but what I am asking is what does David saying "Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?" has anything to do with sharing???

LOL I'm in a good mood, so I'll try again. That phrase means (at least in rhe context it's used) why kill the hub to have the woman if you can fuck her anyway, right? The consequence is: share her with her hub (assuming she fucks the hub too). I don't think David is the type to share a woman.
Thus my deduction: the phrase he used does not express his own opinion (because he would NOT be satisfied with just getting the milk and share the cow with another farmer) but only reproduces what most men think.

I have another understanding of that expression. It means why marry someone if you're screwing them anyway. Has nothing to do with another man at all.

Oh, I agree that the saying can have that meaning too. But it's a fact that it was said in a context where there WAS another man in the picture - the husband. And if Zack didn't need to kill the hub because he could screw Rita anyway it means he shared her with her husband. And that is something I think David would not do. That's why I think he only explained Zack's probable motivation (or lack thereof) for the murder and not expressing his own conviction.
And if the saying is used in the meaning you mentioned (which it was not because the situation was different) how does it make David a sexist? How does marrying or being pro or contra extra-marriage sex have anything to do with sexism? Sexism means prejudice or discrimination based on someone's sex. I see maybe a flippant or lewd attitude, but not a sexist one.

Well saying that seems chauvinistic and his thinking there is a double standard for men and women which is sexist.

chauvinistic is a different thing, maybe I'd agree on that. But where in this scene (or episode) does he indicate or say that he has a double standard???

Are you kidding? Lol Only men say that expression about women. Why marry them if they're screwing you anyway? It's an old fashioned chauvinistic sexist remark.

As I said, chauvinistic - yes, and I know that women mostly wouldn't say this. But a double standard to me means saying that it's okay for the man (to screw around) but not okay for the woman. And David doesn't say or indicate such a thing here.

It's not assumed, that's just YOUR interpretation. And we're not talking about BOB here - the issue was (or at least that's what was my intention) who showed themselves a sexist in THIS particular episode or, more specific, conversation. And that was clearly Maddie.
