What made Maddie so positive she wasn't having David's baby? Was she told by the doctor in Chicago? Was it a scene I've blocked out of my memory?

No, there wasn't. She couldn't be sure, especially not if she slept with 2 men in 3 days. No way she could be sure. I'm sure she talked herself into that, to have one more reason to convince herself it would be better to ban David from her life. Another excuse not to face a stormy relationship with the man she loved; very sad. Although I must admit the last scene of MHGM doesn't make sense within this theory. But given Maddie's character, to me this seems to be the most logic explanation of her behavior.

Yes I agree. I think she was lying and she had said it so many times she convinced herself that it wasn't David's baby. Yes, quite sad. Their relationship was never the same after this.

i think we are too assume ,like a few other scenes it happened off scene, her dr figured it out and she didnt questiion it ,maybe she never told dr she slept with 2 men in 2 days? also when she tells walter on train smth about claenders i take it as that scene is where she got info from her dr. I tihnk maddie was worried goign either way with who father would be. she didnt want it to be sams. she didnt want to tell sam or get him back in her life but she also didnt want david in her life. the woman didnt know what she wanted.

And it backfired on her big time. Even though we have an inkling that David was willing to forgive her and forge (hahah) ahead with their relationship I don't think he ever felt about her the same way as before she hurt him so deeply.
