Whatever you mean by "full commitment" (proposal? Something like I mentioned above?) - he hadn't mentioned anything like that so far, and yet she was chasing him from the beginning. Without expecting him to propose to her first, that's what I meant by she was okay with it - I mean she was okay with going with the flow without planning it all out right from the start, she wasn't setting any conditions. I think to her it was clear that things would fall into place. Only when she thought he was having second thoughts she started to worry.

Oh yes I agree. And yes she should have worried from the get go it was arrogant not to have worried about his change of heart~!

Hmm... weird I should say this but I don't think she was arrogant in the beginning. I think she was trying her best to make him feel comfortable - showing eagerness etc. etc. and don't forget he had hinted at going out, had asked if she was available. She was very eager to confirm that, because she thought that was what he wanted to hear. Later, she was being arrogant and taking him for granted again or expecting him to fall at her feet - her thoughts in the car scene (" why should I say something? Not my problem") and her behavior before the clean slates speech showed that -- I hate her line "what crisis is it now? have you run out of beer nuts?" Like he was the one with the crises -- the drama queen was always Maddie!

well they can never be on the same wavelength. Why do you think David was teasing her about going out when when she bit at it he backed off? I think he was teasing her; being a bit spiteful seeing that she wanted him and now she would be the one to wait for him. He was still angry about being a headwaiter so here he was turning the tables on her. And later she was angry and hurt over his detachment towards her so she struck out at him in her usual way.

I dont think he was angry, and I don't think he was teasing her about going out, really. To me, he doesn't look sarcastic or teasing in a bad way or spiteful to me when he starts about that.

so then why do you think he backtracked? Do you think that he suddenly got cold feet? I'm not sure if he isn't teasing why the reversal?

Hmm, I'm not sure... I think that maybe it was his way of telling her exactly what he should have told her openly -- OMG, codes again?? The talk about her being single, available, about going out was his way of saying hey this is the second chance for us, are you willing to try? And when she said YES!! His "calendar" remark told her I'm glad about that, but let's take it slow. What do you think? Possible?

Possibly in his Davidism way but I don't really know. I was thinking that he was at first trying to get the feeling if she was willing to give it a shot again and when he realized she was open and eager to get back with him he got nervous and back pedaled.

Possible too, of course. I just don't see it in his face and behavior, that something had struck him. And besides, didnt he know from MHGM that she was open and eager? After her speech to him?

MAybe he thought she would change her mind (his crack about the limo driver) then asking her you're really going through with it (meaning ending her marriage) he didn't know what to expect.

I think the joke about the limo driver was just a harmless joke - his kind of light punishment for her (and I think it was hysterical!!). But his remark about going through with it -- yes, true, why would he say that if he was sure about her? Hmm... maybe he wasn't as sure as he thought he was - maybe he had second thoughts without being awayre of it, you know what I mean?

Yes I know what you mean. I think the poor guy was a ball of confusion.

Yes. He was very confused and maybe scared by his own courage? He was optimistic after her hospital speech, but he couldn't forget yet that she had been sending mixed signals in the past and acting nuttily. I'll tell you what, shall we try and comfort him?

Yes and it would take some time and some proof that she had changed..Just saying it meant nothing to him I think his worst fear was making love to her again and hearing her say the p word!

Yes!! Makes sense!! He always thought actions speak louder than words (which is, btw, toally right ;D) - she needed to show him. But she tried, in her way. He didn't understand it.
