We already noticed that, when Maddie showed up at the client's house, David took that as her apology (which it also was) and, as usually, forgave her very easily and quickly. I mean, it was not only the slap itself he had to forgive, far worse was her behavior before (we've discussed that on another thread I think) and also that she had practically accused him of approving a man hitting his wife which is a pretty nasty thing. That (forgiving easily) seems to be a pattern of his. Why? Do you think he really put up with her bad sides so easily because he loved her that much, or did he think - in this case - she had learned her lesson and understood what he had been trying to tell her? Did he forgive too easily in general?

I don't think he forgave her too easily. I think David is like me. I forgive easily many times until there is that one straw that breaks the camel's back. (Season 5 David seems not so easily forgiving which I think began with Flesh..I don't think he truly ever forgave Maddie for her lunatic behavior). Also, David is the type of guy who seems not to sweat the small stuff and I think he knew deep down that Maddie didn't mean half of the things she did or said to him. In this particular case I think he knew how much it took for Maddie to show up at the client's home with her tale between her legs. She was dead wrong when she smacked him and nearly beheaded him with her briefcase. On the other hand, she was still the owner of Blue Moon and had every right to demand that David not work on the case which he ignored. Why Maddie reacted so strongly to a man hitting his wife is a mystery. The writers should have given us s hint of why she was so crazed.
All in all, I think that David forgave for the small everyday nonsense of Maddie but when it came to bigger, more important things he wasn't as forgiving.

Yes I think that sums it up pretty well.
