I was just thinking... this episode came pretty early in season 2, and we know that the financial situation of the agency was not the rosiest. Now we don't know too much about Maddie's private financial situation, but it can't have been that rosy either, because in Brother she mentioned that all that was left of her former wealth was her house.
Don't you think it's a bit exaggerated and not too realistic for Maddie to throw 3.000 Dollars so lightly on the table? I mean - okay, she thought that David would never manage to win that bet, but still - somebody as considerate as Maddie, would she take that risk at all? I think 3.000 Dollars back then were more than they are now.
Thoughts?

I agree that she offered him so much money never made any sense to me. And also how did she come up with $3000? why not $2000 or $1500? Was that the petty cash fund?

Probably Maddie gave it back when they went to the client to tell her Clark was dead...

I don't think they did. That would have been mentioned somehow - that the financial worries might be a bit relieved? And remember, in portrait which is a few episodes later they are talking the first time about actually having some money to speand, to invest.

Yes I remember that... and that makes sense! No, I don't think she said they would give it back, agree. Probably I'll rewatch again tonight; I need to do some more research for my piece anyway.
But even if she didn't say it - normally, giving the money back would have been the only right thing to do; I mean they had to confess to the client that they had lied to her the first time; Maddie was already feeling bad about taking the money in the first place, I really think she would have insisted to give it back. But, we don't know.

Yes, in the beginning. I meant later.
But Ive just been watching it, and even when they tell Mrs. Greydon that Clark had been blown to bits they didn't tell her about the first fake kidnapping - Maddie mentions that only on the phone after she yelled Clark is alive! LOL then she says to David that obviously they really earned the fifty thousand dollars. Next scene, they are at Mrs. Greydon's where the truth is revealed.
So, I think it's really possible that they kept the money indeed! Wow, we solved a mystery LOL aren't we a great team?

Oh, t I don't even try to understand it... that case is full of holes! For example, hy did Mrs. Greydon want to kill them? I mean, they didn't have any idea she had been planning to kill Clark until she told them. She just could have said OMG Clark is alive? That's such good news, thanks guys! And that would have been it. And why does she say it would have allw orked out had she known that the 1st kidnapping was fake? What does she mean? If obviously she planned it to get rid of Clark the only sensible thing to do would have been to indeed kill him before (or tie him up for good) and leave him in the van to be blown to pieces. But of course David was right about no bits o'guy. So this whole thing is really... But honestly... it's just a case, so who cares? ;D
