Watched this today in its entire crappity, and I must say that for me, this whole episode is worse, far worse than Womb! Womb was devastating and the musical and dance numbers were absolutely inappropriate, but the episode itself was halfways believable - except for the nanny scene and the fact that I think by then they would have been living together.
But this here - there was nothing "right" about it. Where do I start?
The way David was avoiding Maddie - I don't think he did it out of bitterness nor do I see him cold. I think he was hurting too much himself and wanted Maddie to open up to him, but then - how could he get her to open up if he wasn't there? He seems to be angry at her that she buries herself in work, wtf?? It may be believable that in general David would try to avoid a situation to painful or awkward or whatever for him to handle, but sorry I just don't believe that he would have done that to her in such a situation, leave her when she really really needed him.
We should have seen any of what happened after they left the hospital, what happened? Her parents are never mentioned, wouldn't they have hurried to her? I hate those inconsistencies and holes!
The only adorable thing in this episode is Agnes - as always, the wisest person ever. When she says to Bert that sometimes when something terrible happens, it brings two people closer together, but sometimes... ugh I choke at that foresight. I think she nails it pretty much when she tells David that guys always think they have to be bulletproof, and Maddie sees that and thinks she has to be the same, and both keep pretending they are fine...
The elevator scene could have been a good one if they hadn't ended up in that horrible singing. Seriously?? And in the end they swing down the hall as if nothing has happened and everything is great and let's never mention it again? Just awful. If not already in Womb, here they killed ML for good.
I must say, I haven't paid much attention to the case so I'm really not so sure why they were chasing that guy but well it was silly - but silly as it was, in the end we had the impression they were together again. Obviously, they were not. Wtf?
Also, the crudeness. Yes, there have been lewd, suggestive lines, even lines we were surprised they made it past the censors. But still, they were clever and - sorry, I have to say it LOL - subtle in the best way; I think you know what I mean. But what do we get now? "Out with it!" - "Here, while I'm driving?"; "I'm coming!" - "Good for you!" that might be funny enough for a Hungover movie, but for me that is not ML.
So, bottom line: I think this episode is crap, and I'd rather watch Womb. There you go.
