Something I've never reflected about before: Maddie told David that she wasn't leaving Sam because of David, but that she wasdoing it for herself. What could she possibly mean by that?
She told "Sam" that she couldn't marry him because it wouldn't be fair. Now I don't think her true motives were that altruistic, even if she didn't want to admit it to herself; I think the real reason was more that she realized with Sam she would never be really and truly happy because she didn't really love him like she loved David. But of course she didn't want to admit that to David - but then what was she trying to tell him (or make him believe) that she was dumping Sam for her own sake?

I suppose she was saying that she wasn't accepting Sam's proposal because she wasn't ready to marry him and it had nothing to do with David (yeah right) Sam knew that she loved David. David knew she loved him. Poor Maddie..it was taken out of her hands lol

But that doesn't make sense - she knew that David had heard what she had said. Did she really think she could kid him??

She was smart to not put herself fully out there and put her whole heart on the line and declare to David she was in love with him when so far she heard not 2 words from him on how he really felt about her. She knew David loved her to an extent but he hadn't stepped up to the plate at all and told her. She wasn't going to make a fool of herself. So what if David knew he needed to say to her he loved her and would do anything for her forever. etc etc etc then she would have opened her heart I believe.

Yes Rose I agree. David was far too smug. What did he say "Yeah I heard the speech about the goodbye grope." Yes she knew David heard what she said but she would not admit it when he was admitting nothing. Instead of his smug crap of "You know it and I know it. You feel it and I feel it." He should have told her what he was going to sat when he went to her house in BOB. Another thing that bothered me is when she first realized it was David and she asked what did he think he was doing. His juvenile answer was he thought he was getting lucky. Really?

She wasn''t able to make her own decision there regarding them like you said in another post above Sue, David and Sam made her decision and she deserved to be pissed and upset. You see her cry too when she reads the letter from Sam. And I understand David he was inside was so freaking happy but shouldn't have shown it smugly like i won the prize of the supermodel . He should have comforted her, got up out of bed went over and pulled her into his arms and said hey it's i'm sorry for what happened between me and sam. im sorry your upset. But I love you and I want to be with you. then they couldn't have talked more and then made love .

But my question still isn't answered! I wasn't trying to put any blame on anybody or judging who was more immature here LOL I was just trying to find out what Maddie meant with her words and what David was supposed to believe. Or did she just blab without thinking?

Although it was not quite the subject of my question: Weirdly enough, I more or less agree, Sue LOL but let's be honest - we love those lines ( "You know it and I know it...") because they are powerful lines, and I wouldn't wanna trade them in for any "I love you" here. Of course, for the sake of their relationship it would have been better if the approach had been more serious and more emotional. But seriously, ML without the Big Bang?? No, I wouldn't wanna change one single moment of that whole scene ;D

I think she just blabbed without thinking. And yes I love the Big Bang but the frantic way they had sex just fueled her insecurities

Agree that things would have gone different if that first intimate encounter had been different. But I wouldn't say their sex was frantic... I mean, it wasn't angry or violent sex, was it? And the moment before their lips touch for the first time seems to last an eternity; this kiss was a very deliberate and mutual move IMO. But yes, the sex was surely very passionate - and that combined with the things that had not been said, fueled her insecurity.

It started off violent with the slaps and the words they called each other. Not to mention their angry argument before it all. Yes I would say it began violent.

The fight etc. yes, but once the kiss started all of that was forgotten and replaced by tenderness and yes passion. When they looked at each other they came clean, there was no anger or violence left at all IMO
