I think it's pretty clear why David didn't go to the funeral in the end - he couldn't stand the confrontation with Tess (although I find his reaction prett exaggerated). But I wonder when was the moment he decided he wouldn't go? I think it was somewhere on his way from the hotel to the funeral - I think when he left the hotel, he really wanted to go. Thoughts?

I think it was when he left Maddie at the hotel. Now he was more confused than ever and couldn't stand the idea of facing Tess or anyone so he decided to lose himself in a bottle.

My question is why he was so dead set against taking Maddie to the funeral? I would think he would want to take her to show her off - to show everyone that he was with a beautiful classy woman who just happened to be a former model and the Blue Moon Shampoo girl! Also, Maddie would have been a barrier between him and Tess. Tess couldn't try to talk to him and bring up the past when he was with another woman.

You mean his wits left him the moment he left the hotel? Yeah, could be.
The other question - yes, we discussed this yesterday, and I still don't fully understand why he was so reluctant to take Maddie. Okay, I think that showing her off was the last thing on his mind on this occasion, but I don't see a reason why he would not take her. Really weird.
