I love when DAvid walks out of his office sees Walter but looks around because he cannot believe he is Maddie's husband. The I love when David is talking to Walter and Walter mentions he is teaching Maddie to knit..and how David quips well better than football..for some reason I find this scene hot cause I imagine David is thinking what he would be doing with her and it sure wouldn't be teaching her to knit!

Walter thought they might forge a bond over learning to crochet. And you heard what Walter told Maddie about David...like talking to the fog...hard to pin down..spins quite a tale.he has sparkle..I can see why you were attracted to him...and Maddie just changes the subject while rocking in her chair. LOL

they subject of david made her nervous and she didnt want to face her real feelings for him so she chaged the subject or got angry about david a few times right in front of walter which made walter catch on pretty quick about maddie and david .

yEs, I agree but Walter knew she loved him. She told him on the train. "I love him I just can't stand him." And when they had the argument about David throwing her the wedding I think Walter knew there was no hope for them. Just as when Terry saw how hurt David was over Maddie's impending nuptials.

I really don't know why he married her. He knew how complicated her life was. She admitted she didn't know who the father of her baby was. She admitted she loved David. Why would he take a chance and marry her? I mean he couldn't be madly in love with her; he knew her maybe 2 or 3 days.

Seriously... gorgeous Maddie or not - she was quite pregnant! Seriously, as a man who is only after laying a pretty blonde, would you really 1) choose a pregnant one and 2) marry her?? No, there had to be more behind it. But what, I can't quite see...

He knew she wouldn't be pregnant forever and she was still drop dead gorgeous. I'm not saying that was all he wanted but that was part of it.

well then what else would he want? That is the question. I say helper's syndrome. You don't burden yourself with a marriage and a baby that isn't yours when you're mainly after the sex - which you would be prevented for a pretty long time after the birth too...
Which brings me to the question: why didn't Maddie want David to "burden" himself in that above mentioned way but had no problems with Walter burdening himself?

Easy! She could care less if Walter left her. And you can see he was a "steady" NSM who wouldn't abandon her and run around. She couldn't bear it if she gave her heart and soul over to David and then he disappointed her. She would be devastated. So easy way out...NSM...

No I don't think so... I would have to rewatch season 4 sometimes, but wasn't it more that she knew David would stay with her raising a child that wasn't his (so she thought) and she didn't want to do that to him? Or am I confusing this with some fanfic inner dialogue? I'm really not sure -maybe you can help me out Was she egoistic, was she "using" Walter? Somehow that's nor her style. Darn, it just doesn't make sense to me.

No, I don't think she was using Walter. But she was afraid to face David without a safety net..she knew (the same reason she ran away in the first place) she knew putty in David's hands. She knew she was weak for him. She convinced herself she loved Walter and he would take care of her and the baby. Remember this was in the 80s when single unwed moms weren't as accepted as they are today. And I don't think it had much to do with who the father was..she didn't think David was the type of man to be happy with monogamous married life..she thought he was always looking for the good party, always looking for the next notch in his bed post..whether it was true or not matters little when that is what she believed. She knew David would make a go at it but she believed he would be miserable. No, I don't know if him raising another man's child had much to do with it...she thought he would try to mold himself into the perfect father and husband and would be unhappy. You saw how she felt by her dreams, what she said to Walter about David (also she loved him but couldn't stand him but the things she thought she hated about him were probably what she really loved about him) and her speech to Agnes about David was like a firs kiss. He always made her feel nervous and unsure while Walter was steady and reliable.
