There's lots to say, admire and discuss about this wonderful episode which is in my top 3 episodes ever. I want to start with an interesting question:
Just judging from their car conversation - who is the sexist here? Maddie? David? Both in their way? I'm curious to read all your approaches.

Both. They are both sexists. And David is very old-fashioned. I love how he says why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free. I remember my mother saying the same thing to me when I was a kid LOL...but that depends how sweet the cream is...

Hmmm I don't think it was his attitude (that he wouldn't buy the cow in that case) - he just explained what most men are likely to think. (Like when I say "oh when a younger woman marries an older man it's probably for money" - that doesn't necessarily mean that I approve of it or would marry for money myself; it's just stating what's the most likely thing would be)
What do you mean by saying he's old-fashioned?

That's an old-fashioned statement to make about the milk and the cow..no most men don't adhere to it but in the deep recesses of their sexist minds some do believe it. LOL David wanted Maddie's cream...lol

I agree - some do. I don't believe David does, though - that is, when he cares for a woman. But on second thought - even if it was only a fling, I don't think he would want to share.

Share a woman, like having an affair with a married woman and not caring if she sleeps with her husband too.

Oh I agree. If a man truly loves a woman he once her or himself. I couldn't imagine David would want to share Maddie..strangle her at times...but not share...and same for her she would not want to share David.

Having rewatched this yesterday and comparing both David's and Maddie's dreams I see my opinion confirmed (and I just saw I never answered my own question LOL). David's dream, assuming that the woman used the man to get rid of a (probably abusive) husband she never loved, and get her hands on a nice amount of insurance money makes perfect sense. But Maddie's dream - bad boy seduces good wife who loves her devoted husband, kills the husband and then turns the woman in, ending up with neither the woman nor the insurance miney - makes absolutely no sense and has nothing to do with "common sense", as Maddie claims.
Of course, we (and they) don't know what really happened at The Flamingo Cove; probably they were both guilty in some way. But David is right here in their car conversation: Maddie bases her opinion (the guy did it, the poor woman was abused) solely on the fact that he is a man. And that makes her prejudiced and a bit of a sexist.

They are both sexist. His opinion of 'why buy the cow if you get the milk for free' shows how old fashioned and sexist David is and that he believes in a double standard.

we've discussed this already earlier in this thread. He just points out that this is what most men think. It doesn't mean it's his opinion; I don't think David would want to share if he cared about a woman. And if it's only a fling - what is sexist about that? That might be a superficial, a "cavalier" attitude but not sexist in the meaning of thinking one sex is better than the other. But that's exactly what Maddie did: the poor woman would never murder her husband, it must have been the bad lover! David's story made total sense, Maddie's didn't. Her only argument was that he was a man and therefore must have been the murderer. That is prejudiced and sexist to me.

But what does fling or sharing have to do with his opinion on 'your whole gender'?

Because they were discussing the most likely scenarios for the Flamingo Cove murder! If I say for example Sticky married Bruce for fame and fortune because that's what young women do when they marry older men that doesn't absolutely mean that's my opinion and it's what I would do, right?
And I explained already above what sharing has to do with it: I said I don't think David is the type who would like to share a woman, even if she was just a fling to him. So that means casually sleeping with a married woman (hence getting the milk for free) would not be his thing. Which means that why buy the cow when you get the milk for free is not his opinion, it's just him stating what many men think.

He didn't only mean sleeping with a married woman! That expression means why marry a woman who you are already screwing. and if it wasn't his opinion he would not have said it.
