The casual way David says to Viola who is nervous about his impending marriage...You ever hear of cheating? Is just sickening. People say it was out of character but think of real life..after being through a gut wrenching relationship people do turn out bitter and angry. It is a sad fact of life but this seems to have happened to David.

That's true Sue, it's absolutely true to life an likely to have happened that David lost his belief in love or had decided for himself that he didn't want to invest his heart in a steady relationship again. He surely was bitter. That he would want to take it light himself, have fun only, maybe cope just with one-night-stands. But still, I don't think he would tell anybody to cheat - especially not on Agnes who was dear to him. I think he would have said if it gets tough, don't let yourself get stomped over - leave. JMO

No he meant it. Why would he have wanted to get tough. It had nothing to do with him. Bert was just nervous and talking about never going with anybody else or whatever he said..and David was like Ever think of cheating..or there's always cheating..forgot his exact words

Oh well could be, what do I know - I haven't seen it after all and I'm glad! But still, if he said it seriously then it's out of character I think. JMO

The point I am trying to make is that Season 5 David was turned into a bitter man by what he had gone through over the years with all his failed relationships and the loss of another baby which he thought was his. It is like real life. He was no longer the moral, good man he use to be...he changed.

I understand what you're trying to say... and it makes sense to a certain point. I agree, experiences you make - good or bad - can change you, but what I'm trying to say is I don't think they change the essentials of a character; certain things remain valid, no matter how bitter or cynical you get, but that's JMO.

Maybe but to be so soured on love you don't believe one you once believed..that cheating is wrong...boinking a married woman is a no no..
