It always surprised me that Maddie was so easily ready to accept LaSalle's offer to buy Blue Moon. Surely she wouldn't have admitted it openly, but home alone she must have taken into consideration that it would mean probably not seeing David again if she sold the agency.
I can't believe she didn't think about it before or worse, thought about it but simply didn't care.

I didn't think she thought about not seeing David. I think she was under the delusional impression that business would go on as usual (La Salle did promise her no one would be fired) and she would still see David. She seemed shocked when she went into her office and someone else was in there working. I think that is when the full impact of what she had done hit her. I doubt she didn't care about not seeing him again. She looked devastated in Knowing Her when he wasn't in the office everyday while he was spending time with Jillian. She loved him already.

That was it what made me wonder, Sue - I couldn't believe she wouldn't care about not seeing him again. Probably she really thought that, basically, nothing would change. Did LaSalle really promise nobody would be fired? That would explain things, of course.

Yes he did. And when she comes into the office with LaSalle she is shocked to see everyone is gone. She says to him you promised me no one would be fired. He tells her no one was fired ..she asks about Agnes and he tells Maddie she is with personnel trying to find a place for her.

Yeah, right. But still - as a woman who valued so much her independence, who was thrilled to discover she could be more than just a pretty face... oh right, she would get rid of all the worries, dealing with the unprofessional staff (including David LOL), the financial worries etc. etc., but I still wonder why she was that eager to accept the offer, JMO

p.s.: I like it a lot btw that she obviously had made it a premise that nobody would be fired - might be just a sidenote in this episode, but it clearly shows that deep deep down she was a good hearted person.

Yes, she was a goodhearted person. I never thought otherwise. She just uses that cold facade to protect herself. The more she cares the icier she is.

Oh I never doubted it ether, but what I meant was that we didn't see it often enough. Agree her iciness was self-protecting facade. If only we knew what she wanted to protect herself from...

I know that, but why? Didn't we agree that she must have experienced some sort of trauma for being so desperately afraid of losing control, the upper hand etc. etc.

Probably but we were never privy to that information. Maybe it was just in her character..rigid, reserved, always needs to be in control...some people are just born that way.

I think in the beginning Maddie was thinking with her money head and heard that whatever number of figures Lou LasSalle offered and she believed things would stay the same and she would just have more money now. But she didn't realize some things can never stay the same when there is change like that. She missed her life at the office and missed her David like crazy!
